About us
Sparv Embedded AB is based in Linköping, Sweden, and was founded in 2012 by Anders Petersson. We specialize in developing innovative technical solutions using electronics, microcontrollers, and software, primarily focused on meteorological measurement systems.
Our expertise spans system design, sensor integration, long-range telemetry, GPS, low-power embedded platforms, and control of radio-controlled vehicles. We also develop both desktop and mobile applications to support our hardware solutions.
Sparv is a dedicated team with full-time staff and a network of part-time collaborators. For specialized projects, we partner with experts from Linköping’s vibrant tech cluster and global consultants to deliver cutting-edge results.
Past, present and future
Sparv Embedded began as a passion project in 2010, when founder Anders Petersson started experimenting with custom control systems for RC airplanes. With a background in embedded software and a deep curiosity for applied technology, Anders laid the foundation for what would become Windsond.
By 2012, Windsond had evolved into a full-time endeavor under the name “Kiwi Embedded,” developed in collaboration with the Swedish Airsport Federation. Its international debut at the Hot Air Balloon World Championship in the USA marked a turning point. In 2014, Sparv Embedded AB was officially incorporated to meet growing demand from academia and industry.
Since then, we’ve expanded our portfolio with innovations like Sparvio—adapting sensors for UAVs—and continued to refine Windsond for new applications. Our focus today includes fast-response temperature and humidity sensors, enhanced data quality through in-house calibration, and intuitive software for reliable landing prediction and recovery.
Looking ahead, Sparv remains committed to advancing environmental measurement technologies that empower researchers, educators, and decision-makers. We believe that better data leads to better understanding—and ultimately, smarter choices for our shared future.
Our mission
At Sparv Embedded, we believe atmospheric measurements shouldn’t be complex or costly. Traditional tools—like towers, radar, satellites, and legacy radiosondes—often leave critical gaps in coverage, resolution, and accessibility. Our mission is to close those gaps by engineering compact, affordable, and intelligent measurement systems. Through innovative electronics and smart software, we empower researchers, educators, and decision-makers with high-quality data—where and when it matters most.
