Sparv Embedded AB, based in Linköping, Sweden, was founded in 2012 by Anders Petersson. We specialize in developing lightweight, reliable, and innovative technical solutions built around electronics, embedded systems, and software—primarily focused on precise atmospheric measurements.

Our expertise spans system design, sensor integration, long-range telemetry, GPS, low-power embedded platforms, and control of radio-controlled vehicles. To support our hardware, we also develop desktop and mobile applications that make data collection, analysis, and field operations more efficient.

Sparv is a dedicated team combining full-time staff with a network of part-time collaborators. For specialized projects, we partner with experts from Linköping’s vibrant tech community and global consultants to deliver high-quality, field-proven results.

Sparv Embedded began as a passion project in 2010, when founder Anders Petersson started experimenting with custom control systems for RC aircraft. With a background in embedded software and a fascination for applied technology, he created the foundation for what would become the Windsond system.

By 2012, the early Windsond concept had evolved into a full-time development effort—then known as Kiwi Embedded—in collaboration with the Swedish Airsport Federation. Its international debut at the Hot Air Balloon World Championship in the United States marked a major milestone. In 2014, Sparv Embedded AB was formally established to meet growing demand from academia, research institutions, and industry.

Since then, our portfolio has expanded with innovations such as Sparvio, enabling atmospheric measurements from UAVs, and continual refinements to Windsond for new applications. Today, we focus on fast-response environmental sensors, in-house calibration for enhanced data quality, and intuitive software that improves landing prediction and recovery.

Looking ahead, Sparv remains committed to advancing environmental measurement technology that supports researchers, operational teams, and decision-makers. We believe better data leads to deeper understanding—and ultimately, smarter decisions for a changing world.
